Teaching Assistant Collective Agreement

Note: Our TA Collective Agreement expired July 31, 2023. As we negotiate our new contract, the TA Collective Agreement stays in effect! We have summarized the main points of our Collective Agreement below. Invigilator Collective Agreement

After a year and a half of negotiations, Invigilators approved the tentative agreement reached between the Invigilator Bargaining Committee and McGill University at the November 17, 2022 assembly! The new Collective Agreement was signed on April 5, 2023, and is now in effect! We have summarized the main points of our Collective Agreement below. If you ever need clarification or have an issue with your workplace rights, contact the Invigilator Grievance Officer at grievance.

Membership Forms

Remember to fill out the AGSEM online membership form for full membership rights. You must fill out your membership form every time you start a new contract as a Teaching Assistant, Invigilator, or Course-Based Academic Casual. Since TAs, Invigilators, and Course-Based Academic Casuals are separate bargaining units at AGSEM, there are membership forms for: teaching assistants, invigilators, and course-based academic casuals. Important! For “Employee Number” / “Numéro employé” please provide your McGill ID number For “Personal email” / “Courriel personnel” please provide your non-McGill email address

Delegate Resources and FAQ

The information on this page is intended for AGSEM members who have been elected or appointed as Delegates. If you have any questions about the Delegates’ Council or would like to become an Invigilator or Teaching Assistant Delegate for your department or hiring unit, contact mobilization@agsem-aeedem.ca You must be logged into your AGSEM Delegate email account to access forms and documents. Workday FAQ

The Workday system has posed ongoing issues to McGill employees and students, causing problems with hiring, paychecks, and more. AGSEM has compiled information and resources about understanding your rights and navigating the Workday system. **If you are not unionized through AGSEM, per provincial and federal law, you do not have access to AGSEM representation or AGSEM’s grievance procedures with McGill. However, you still have rights! This includes that you must be paid within 30 days of starting your contract.
